Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Internet for looking up tabs or....
- Sheet music from your favorite songs and artists
Step1
First you will need your guitar. I would start with an electric, because they are easier to me. Different people have different feels however. A good beginners guitar would be the First Act guitars. Also get you a small practice amp. (most First Act guitars come with practice amp and cables)
Step2
Learn how to tune up your guitar. Standard Tuning would be, from the thick string down, EADGBe, or Dropped D, theres many ways to do this but I go with, DADGBe. Just get you a tuner.
Step3
Alright now to begin playing, this is the fun part that almost made me put down my guitar but luckily I did not. Look up guitar TABS not CHORDS on the internet. they look like this -
e--3--------0----------
B--3--------3----------
G--0--------0----------
D--0--------2----------
A--2--0h2--3----------
E--3------------------
They are very easy to read. Look them up for your favorite songs. Listen for songs that you are interested in that sound very easy to play, then look up the tabs on the song. It will take you a while to learn the songs perfect.
Step4
You need to practice this every day, always look for new material to learn, if you learn the other songs. After a couple of months of reading tabs, start trying to learn Chord positions, and you will see that after reading tabs for so long, that you know how to do most of the chords. Your skills can only grow from this poing, never stop practicing. I practice 3 hours a day but guitar is my life, im sure most people cant fit that into their schedule.
