No one wants to experience heartburn or acid reflux, but these conditions strike an estimated 20 percent of the population. You can relieve heartburn through holistic natural remedies.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the foods that trigger your heartburn and limit or eliminate them. These might include tomatoes, raw onions, citrus fruits and spicy foods.

  2. Step 2

Take up meditation to relax when stress overwhelms you. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy and will stick with.

  3. Step 3

If you are a smoker, take steps to quit smoking. Nicotine weakens the lower esophageal sphincter which allows acid into the stomach.

  4. Step 4

Use herbs to make tea or ingest them in supplement form. Good choices include anise, chicory root and marshmallow root.

  5. Step 5

Add eating papaya or pineapple to your daily diet.

  6. Step 6

Take B-12 as an effective way to relieve the discomfort from heartburn.
