Skiing in the Great White North is an must-do for many winter sports enthusiasts. Here are some packing tips for the bulky winter gear needed to tame the slopes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Great luggage
  • Space bags

Step1
Fairmont Banff Springs, Alberta Canada Research your hotel. Don't bring anything you absolutely can do without. Hair dryers, equipment or anything you can rent at the lodge should be left at home. If you are an expert skier, you may want to bring your own skis, but the rest of us will save the hassle and rent.
Step2
Wear what you can. Avoid packing heavy coats and boots and try to wear these items on the plane. This will save lots of real estate in your suitcase.
Step3
Space bags are crucial for winter wear. You can fold up your puffy sweaters, ski wear and down vests, slide them into the bags and reduce their size dramatically.
Step4
Make sure you have access to laundry at your resort so you can use your casual wear over again. Send it out if you must as the lighter bags are worth the cost.

Tips & Warnings

  • Plan your wardrobe carefully. Don't bring anything you won't wear twice.
  • Wear bigger items onto the plane.
  • Waterproof your handbags and boots. Take them to a professional or spray them at home.
  • Invest in a snow hat for bad hair. You will have bad hair.
  • Don't bring suede to the snow.
  • Don't bring your favorite heels to the snow, no matter how great they are.
