Instructions

    • 1

Decide where in your yard you are going to place the pond. Some place that will get a little sun is good.

    • 2

Dig a hole. It's up to you as to how long and deep you want to make it, but it's generally advised to dig a minimum of 1 foot by 1 foot.

    • 3

Place a pond liner along the bottom of the pond so that grass doesn't grow into your pond and the water doesn't seep into the soil.

    • 4

Place rocks around and in the fish pond. These will help hold down the pond liner. It also creates a decorative border.

    • 5

Add fish plants and water. Use the water temperature recommended by the pet store.

    • 6

Add fish. You can also add any other decorative pond items that you like. You'll see tons of these at pet or home improvement stores.

Tips & Warnings

  • For even more of a splash, you can add a fountain. There are many different types of fountains available from home improvement stores that are easy to make and incorporate into your landscape.

  • It's good to have an indoor aquarium to place your fish in during the colder months.

  • These fish also need to be fed with fish food just like indoor fish.
