Learn the tricks to make your Houseboat Rental Vacation a success. How to plan the fun and the chores to insure a pleasant vacation!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Plan the Date
  • Choose the right Boat

Step1
Get together with your friends and choose the length of time and the date of your adventure. Choose the lake or river you want to visit.
Step2
Go online and find the Marinas or Houseboat rental options available at the lake or river. Select the Houseboat that fits your groups needs.
Step3
Organize meetings of the group before you go on vacation. Assign meal preparation and cleanup. Do cooking by groups -- husband/wife -- friends -- men vs.. women. Make it FUN!
Step4
Setup a cash pool with everyone paying in a set amount at your meetings before the trip. Use this money to pay for gas, ice and other incendentials. If you are going to buy meals or drinks ashore use this money to pay the total bill and tip. You will avoid arguments and excuses when the bill is presented if everyone agrees to this idea.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have the group that cooks do the cleanup for that meal.
  • The group that cooks dinner shouldn't have to cook breakfast the next day.
  • Have one "Treasurer" in charge of the money pool, divide the leftover cash
  • at your wrap up meeting
  • Have the most experienced skipper drive the boat the first day and train other people how to drive the boat.
