Things You'll Need:

  • Copywriting Project
  1. Step 1

Get the reader curious. Ask an off-the-wall question that the reader will really want to know the answer to. However, be sure that you can tie the question in with the rest of the copy in some way, or the reader may become annoyed

  2. Step 2

Ask personal questions. This makes the reader feel connected to you. They will feel as though they can trust you because you have taken the time to connect with them.

  3. Step 3

Lead the reader to the desired answer through your questions. For example, ‘Don’t you want to be able to enjoy the small moments of life? Of course you do! All you have to do is eat Snazzy Ice Cream!’

  4. Step 4

Anticipate the reader’s questions. Then, include those in your copy. What might the reader be concerned about? What might the reader want to have clarified?

  5. Step 5

Inject common, informal questions such as ‘Why not try?’ or ‘What do you have to lose?’ The informality of these questions will keep the reader focused on the subject or product and not on the language.

  6. Step 6

Use them to emphasize a point. For example, “Feeling comfortable with your retirement plan is essential; but, unfortunately, not many people are secure in their retirement. How comfortable are you with your retirement plan? Do you know that you will not outlive your money?”

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t use too many questions or your copy will become aggravating!
