Black Hat Method: The Black Hat method of feng shui was actually created in the United States. This method is a more modern version of this ancient art. In this version the direction of the front door is of main importance, and the entire house, or a single room, is divided into eight sectors, each one with an influence on one part of life that might need enhancing.

Compass School Method: This type of feng shui uses eight trigrams of the ancient Chinese "I Ching" and connects them to the eight directional points of the compass. These compass points are used to understand the best and most harmonious placement for buildings, floor plans, and the layout of specific rooms.
