Things You'll Need:

  • A room to rearrange or realign
  1. Step 1

There are several different schools of feng shui, and each school deals with harmony and chi a bit differently. However, the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water are an integral part of any feng shui analysis of the home, and those elements are what experts try to align to bring peace to the family and the home.

  2. Step 2

Flying Star Method: Flying star is the most commonly used feng shui method. It analyzes each of the five elements [wood, fire, earth, metal, and water], land formations and star combinations that reside in a building. In addition, on every Chinese New Year, these yearly stars change, which alters the good and bad energy.

  3. Step 3

Form School Method: This feng shui method focuses on the contours of landscape and the shapes of hills and watercourses. The Form School concerns itself with favorable landscapes by looking at the contours of the hills and water surrounding a site, and deciding whether their form will bring good or bad luck to the site.

  4. Step 4

Black Hat Method: The Black Hat method of feng shui was actually created in the United States. This method is a more modern version of this ancient art. In this version the direction of the front door is of main importance, and the entire house, or a single room, is divided into eight sectors, each one with an influence on one part of life that might need enhancing.

  5. Step 5

Compass School Method: This type of feng shui uses eight trigrams of the ancient Chinese "I Ching" and connects them to the eight directional points of the compass. These compass points are used to understand the best and most harmonious placement for buildings, floor plans, and the layout of specific rooms.

  6. Step 6

So, if there's something just not right about your home and your environment, consider feng shui as a way to bring more agreement and happiness to your life.
