Step1
CO2 emission over city of Chicago, O'Hare Intl Airport. Limit emissions from transportation. Walk, use bicycles or public transport. Avoid traveling in airplanes, the worst offender in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. Buy hybrid vehicles.
Step2
If you have a business, obtain electricity from a renewable energy source, such as solar panels, or by selecting a green energy provider. Other energy sources can include biomass, geothermal power, hydro power, tidal power, wave power and wind power.
Step3
Plant a tree each time you travel in an airplane, fund carbon projects or buy carbon credits.
Step4
Record your carbon adding activities in a diary. For each one, list a compensating activity that limited carbon emissions.

on 6/26/2008 Greenhouse gases destroy our Earths Ecosystem. High levels of CO2 gas (carbon dioxide) are a major cause of Global Warming. Major contributors of greenhouse gases are fully vented landfills and septic systems. Sweetfilter Zeocarbon septic vent pipe filters remove odors and greenhouse gases for up to 5 years. Then they are recycled as an ornamental gardening, nitrogen rich, fertilizer. It takes up to one year for one tree to fix the CO2 in the equivalent of 3 litres of gas. Vent pipe filters can do the same thing in one day, every day, for up to 5 years.

on 2/5/2008 Thanks for the timely article. The more we can cut down on carbon dioxide emissions the better, and we'll conserve energy in the process! Regarding renewable energy sources, alot of power companies are catching on to wind and solar and may eventually give their customers a choice to purchase a portion of their electricity from such renewable sources.
