How to Remove Bad Sectors of a Hard Disk Using DM2000

To remove bad sectors of a hard disk you need to run disk manager and have it test your hard drive.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • windows 2000 or xp
  1. Step 1

    Right click my computer, Manage.

  2. Step 2

    Select disk management.

  3. Step 3

    Right click the drive letter you want to test. Click properties.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the tools tab. Click Error-checking. Check now.
    Select the check boxes "Automatically fix file system errors" and "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"
    Click start
    It might say the drive is in use and will need to run on the next startup. Click ok then reboot.

Tips & Warnings
  • You should always have a backup of your data before doing this.
  • If you continue to get bad sectors you should replace your hard drive.
