Classroom Valentine's have been a tradition for many years. School children love to give yummy Valentine treats to their classmates. Making a unique candy carrier/holder is a fun way to make an exclusive Valentine for those special friends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cardstock or 4 ½" x 5 ½" printed Valentines
  • Brads, eyelets or staples
  • Candy (Pixie sticks, Airheads, individually wrapped licorice sticks)
  • Scrapbook embellishments
  • Decorative scissors (any pattern)
  1. Step 1

Cut a piece of stamped or printed cardstock into a 4 ½"x 5 ½" rectangle; or if you are using a pre-printed Valentine card, then just use one side of the card (cut it in half). Decorate your paper before you fold it and create your candy holder.

  2. Step 2

Fold the paper in half and cut top right corner at a slant with decorative scissors. This will create an opening in the top of your candy holder.

  3. Step 3

Now use brads, eyelets or staples to hold the candy sleeve together. You will have to use them up and down each side and on the bottom.

  4. Step 4

Next attach any other embellishments such as a stamped image or die cut on the front. You can also tie a ribbon around it.

  5. Step 5

Insert your candy and add a sticker on the back with your name telling them whom it is from.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are using Pixie sticks or licorice, then be sure to put your metal clasps close together so the candy doesn't fall out through any holes.
  • Keep your candy holder simple and let your child help you create the Valentines for their classmate and friends.
  • It is a good idea to pre-print small stickers or labels with your child's name on them so you can easily stick them to the back of the Valentines. Another option is to just have your child write their name on back before you insert the candy.
  • Be careful when sticking the brads through your paper so you don't poke your fingers. You may want to use a 1/16" hole punch and pre-punch holes for your brads or use a piercing tool to make you holes.
