Edible candy trains are perfect for a child’s birthday party, a Christmas party or any kind of celebration. Thomas the Train is a popular theme for birthday parties. Use this easy choo-choo train engine to liven up the party festivities.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Big Kit Kat (single block size)
  • Snack-size Starburst candy packets
  • Small York Peppermint Patties (individually wrapped)
  • Hershey’s kisses or Butterfinger bells
  • Glue dots or hot glue gun
  • Paper circles (for a face if you are making Thomas the Train favors)
  • Black marker (to draw the face)
  1. Step 1

Use the hot glue gun or strong adhesive such as glue dots to attach the small Starburst pack for the cab of the train to the Kit Kat bar.

  2. Step 2

Next using the glue, attach the Hershey’s kiss or Butterfinger bell to the Starburst to make it look like the smokestack on the engine.

  3. Step 3

Now place four small Peppermint Patty candies on your Kit Kat (two on each side) for the wheels and attach thin black stripes of cardstock across the wheels to look like the wheels of a train.

  4. Step 4

Add any finishing touches you want in order to personalize your edible choo-choo.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to make your train into Thomas the Tank Engine, then simply add a face to the front of your creation. Do this by cutting out a circle and filling in the face to look like Thomas.
  • Make sure you use glue that is strong enough to hold the candies onto the Kit Kat base.
  • If you use a hot glue gun then you should make sure the glue is directly on the wrapper and don’t use too much because you may melt the chocolate or the plastic candy wrappers.
  • When using hot glue, you need to make sure children are under parental supervision in order to prevent burns or other accidents.
