Things You'll Need:
- Old stockings
- Food coloring
- Boiled eggs
- Plastic cups
- Cutting board
- Egg carton
-
Step 1
Take a bunch of old stockings and cut off the feet, leaving enough room to fill the feet with an egg and tie a knot at the top of it.
-
Step 2
In each plastic cup fill it half way with water and any number of drops of a single food coloring, depending on how light or dark you want the color to come out. Be sure to thoroughly stir the water and food coloring mixture.
-
Step 3
Place one boiled egg in a stocking foot and tie the stocking off with a knot half of an inch above the egg. Do this for each stocking foot and egg.
-
Step 4
Place a stocking foot with an egg in it into one of the plastic cups filled with water and food coloring. Let some of the stocking hang outside of the cup. This will make it easier to remove later. Allow the egg to sit in the water and food coloring for any amount of time, though five minutes should be plenty enough time. Repeat this process for all of the boiled eggs.
-
Step 5
Once the egg has sat in the colored water for long enough take it out and place it on a cutting board to let it dry. Once it has dried remove the egg from the stocking and either place it in an empty egg carton or an egg tray.
-
Step 6
Another option for after removing the egg from the colored water is to immediately take the egg from out of the stocking and then place it in either an empty egg carton or an egg tray.
