Whether they are hosting renowned speakers, worship leaders or musicians, Christian cruises are designed to be both a unique vacation experience and a spiritual journey. Follow these simple steps to finding one that fits your family.

How to Find a Christian-Themed Cruise

Step1
Decide if you want to serve or be served. Some Christian cruises focus on mission work while others focus solely on rejuvenation and worship. PraiseFest Ministries’ annual Cruise with a Cause, for example, hosts speakers like Josh McDowell and Lex Luger and bands like Sonicflood and Mary Mary--but much of the focus is on street witnessing, prison ministry and training to be a counselor in island schools. The weekend is wrapped up with a free crusade attended by more than 20,000 Bahamians in 2007.
Step2
Talk to a travel agent. You might be surprised how many faith-based vacations are organized and promoted on an annual basis. Whether it’s Chonda Pierce and Point of Grace’s “Girls’ Getaway” or comedian Paul Aldrich’s “Christian Singles & Comedy Cruise,” you probably have more options than you think.
Step3
Call a Christian radio station or mega-church. It is likely both have been asked to host a Christian vacation in the past or at least have contacts to ministries that can show you your options.
Step4
If all else fails, host your own. Helping non-profit entities and organizations raise money for worthy causing by hosting a themed vacation, Cruises.org lets you choose what ship you’d like to sail on, what destinations you’d like to sail to and what meeting facilities you’ll need on board. The company also plans for you to enjoy praise and worship music, seminars and workshops and fellowship with other believers worldwide. Call (888) 267-1232.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many theme cruises are hosted in December, January and February.
  • Before packing for your trip, ask if there is a dress code on the boat or on the island. If the trip's organizers are expecting you to represent your faith at all times, they may prohibit revealing apparel.
