Whole-Wheat Pasta
Whole-Wheat Pasta

Making the change from whole enriched white pasta to whole-wheat pasta can be difficult, as the taste is just not the same. By changing your cooking technique, however, you will learn to love whole-wheat pasta.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Whole-wheat pasta
  • Pasta sauce (of any kind)
  • seasonings
  1. Step 1

Boil your pasta as usual. For most people, that means adding a touch of salt and oil to your boiling water and adding your pasta.

  2. Step 2

Remove the pasta before it is done. It should still be al dente, or very firm.

  3. Step 3

While your pasta is cooking, begin your sauce. You will also want to alter your normal sauce by adding a little more seasonings that usual. I like to add chopped vegetable, like carrots, green peppers, scallions and onions, to my sauce since I altered my pasta recipes.

  4. Step 4

Sauté your half-cooked pasta with a few cups of your sauce. Reserve at least 1/2 of the sauce to pour over your pasta. Cook your pasta and sauce, stirring to prevent sticking until your pasta has absorbed the sauce.

  5. Step 5

Pour your remaining sauce over your pasta and serve. You will no longer have that whole-wheat taste.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not overcook whole-wheat pasta as it will get mushy and fall apart.
  • Be careful not to burn your pasta when you cook it with the sauce.
