How to Make Web Photo Albums With Free Software

There are many applications for publishing your photos on the Web. Unfortunately, most of them require that your viewers create an account before they can see your images. Most of these sites are also loaded with ads and promotions. Others are photo social networking sites that do little to control their content. These sites also allow your users to download JPEGS of your photos to their computers. VicMan Software offers a free utility and no-frills hosting for your web albums. Viewers can download thumbnails, but not full images. Things You'll Need

• Web Photo Album 1.2 running on a PC computer
• A free account at Pho.to

Instructions

1. 

   Open Web Album 1.2 and create a new album by simply typing in the name. Under album settings, you can add an entire folder or individual albums. You can also scroll through the directory using the browser style buttons. You can also adjust the thumbnail and image size and use the software to automatically size your pictures to fit the album format.

2. 

   Select your files one at a time, or use CONTROL and MOUSE CLICK to add multiple files. Once you have selected all the files, click OPEN and the files will be displayed in a list form.

3. 

   Move the files up and down in the list to create the order that you want in the web album. Select the template you want for your album by clicking on the TEMPLATES tab. In this image, the black background doesn't work, so we will choose another.

4. 

   Scroll through the templates and select the one that works well with your images. In this case, we will choose the PHOTO FILM template. When you click on the template, the screen will be repainted with your new design.

5. 

   Once you have the images in the correct order and have selected the right background, you are ready to publish your photos. If you want to publish your photos to pho.to, you will need to first go to the website and create your free account.

6. 

   You may publish the photo album to a folder that you can then upload to your website or to pho.to. If you publish to pho.to you will be taken to the login screen and then your photos will be published. At the end of publishing you will be given the HTML code that you can copy to link the album to your other websites.

Tips & Warnings

• The system works best with JPEGS, although other file formats are recognized (but will not publish correctly if they contain any color management information).

• It is easiest to use when you have your files already organized in folders.
