Step1
From the old fashioned authorized KJV Bible.
LOOK AT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. ( Exodus Chapter 20 )
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Step2
NOW ASK YOURSELF . . . Have I ever broken EVEN ONE of these commandments. Did I ever steal anything? ( even a pencil from work ) Go down the list and be honest before God.
Step3
NOW READ ONE OF THE BIBLES MOST AMAZING VERSES. ( In James 2:10 ) " For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, HE IS GUILTY OF ALL.
Step4
NOW TO BE HONEST BEFORE GOD. If we are honest we will admit that we are guilty before God of breaking His commandments.
Step5
LETS GET THIS MOST IMPORTANT POINT BEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER. If we are justified before God by keeping the commandments WILL ANY OF US EVER BE JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD? The simple answer is NO.
Step6
NOW FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW.
Galatians, ( Chapter 3:24 ) "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith."
Step7
WE CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD BY TRYING TO KEEP HIS TEN COMMANDMENTS. The reason, NONE OF US CAN DO IT. If we could keep all of the commandments and be as perfect as Jesus Christ OK, but none of us are capable of this. ( 1st John 1:8 ) " If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." ( We are sinners )
Step8
PAUL THE APOSTLE ADMITTED IT.
In ( 1st Timothy, Chapter 1:15 ) "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
Step9
NOW IT'S UP TO YOU TO ADMIT IT and see your sin as it is before a Holy God and come to Christ as the sinner that you are. ( John, Chapter 6:37 ) "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." COME TO CHRIST AS YOU ARE. Just as I am without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.
Step10
TO SUMMERIZE AND MAKE IT CLEAR:
.
1. NONE OF US CAN KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
.
2. WE ARE ALL GUILTY BEFORE GOD. ( of breaking His commandments )
.
3. THE PURPOSE OF THE COMMANDMENTS IS TO SHOW US THAT WE ARE GUILTY BEFORE GOD and CONDEMNED. ( sinners ) We are reconciled to God by coming to Christ in repentance, not by the keeping ANY of the commandments. ( see my article on repentance.)
.
4. CHRIST DID FOR US WHAT WE COULD NOT DO FOR OURSELVES. ( He took the punishment for our sin so that we don't need to.) When we come to Christ He takes our sin ( and the punishment for it ) and gives us His righteousness.
.
5. WE ARE ALL INVITED TO COME TO CHRIST.

HOWEVER, KNOWING THAT MY ARTICLE HAS BEEN OF HELP TO SOMEONE WOULD BE PAY ENOUGH FOR ME. IF THIS ARTICLE HAS HELPED YOU I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT IT. on 9/29/2008 I REPEAT ... I hope that you can see what I am trying to say. It's just this . . . If you intend to be JUSTIFIED before God by keeping the commandments, then you must keep them perfectly. I don't, you don't, Therefore we are not ... JUSTIFIED ... before God this way. I am not worthy of forgiveness, nor could I ever be by trying to keep the commandments. I am a hell deserving sinner that has been saved by the total grace of God. Just like the one thief on the cross that turned to Christ in faith. One thief turned to Christ in faith, the other didn't. Neither thief was WORTHY of forgiveness

on 9/19/2008 Ron, I am sorry but I do not agree with your belief. You are interpreting the Bible to suit your own needs. You would not be the only one. As a Biblical Follower, who does not let man interpret the Bible and who walks as JC and His apostles did, ANYONE can follow His laws and commandments but just are not willing too compromise their own needs and desires.
*** For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments ARE NOT BURDENSOME. 1 John 5:3
*** Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. HE WHO SAYS, “I know Him,” AND DOES NOT KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, is a liar, and THE TRUTH IS NOT IN HIM. 1 John 2:3-4
*** Paul and John, apostles of JC; taught by JC - did as He did and demonstrated how to live a good and happy life in HIS SIGHT NOT MAN'S. GOD DOESN'T WANT US TO KEEP THE 10CS PERFECTLY - HE JUST COMMANDS US TO KEEP THEM because t
