How to Make a Board Book Album

Board book albums are easy to make and becoming a popular option among experienced scrappers. You can purchase blank board books that are scrapbook friendly from many craft supply stores. Another option is to use an old children’s book and cover it with scrapbook paper and embellishments. Either way your end result is a precious book of memories.

Things You’ll Need:

• Board book
• Scrapbook paper
• Scrapbook embellishments
• Adhesive
• Photos
• Stamps
• Inks
• Paper trimmer

1. Select a board book and decide on an album theme.
2. Trim your scrapbook paper to cover the pages of the book. Then glue the paper to your pages.
3. Decorate the album cover with your theme. Include a title, embellishments and maybe a photograph.
4. Create layouts inside your album for each page. Cut photo mats and include journaling that will tell your story.
5. Place your photos inside your album along with any finishing touches.
6. Display your board book album for loved ones to enjoy or give it as a gift.

Tips & Warnings

• Use layering when creating your pages to add artistic appeal (layering meaning photo mats, mats under your letters and die cuts, etc.)
• Chipboard letters make a great title for your album. They add dimension and are easily altered to match any type of color combination and theme.
• Board book albums are inexpensive and make a timeless gift for any occasion.
• If you are using a children’s board book then you should make sure it is made of acid-free material, or spay it with an archival spray so that the photos and other materials are protected.
