Scrapbooking supplies can be used to create many different kinds of crafts. The acid-free, photo-safe properties are perfect for crafting items that will last a lifetime. You can use scrapbook paper, stamps and other supplies to decorate picture frames. Include your favorite photo in a picture frame and give the photo memory to someone for a gift they can cherish.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Picture frame (flat wood frame)
  • Scrapbook supplies (paper, stamps, ink, embellishments, ribbon, etc.)
  • Adhesive (decoupage glue, glue dots, etc.)
  • Photo (to put in the picture frame)
  1. Step 1

Choose your frame and decide on a pattern or theme. Select a color combination that coordinates with your color or theme.

  2. Step 2

Cut your paper into strips that will cover the flat wooden frame. In order to give your paper a finished look and make sure it is totally adhered to the wood you can use a decoupage type glue to glue down the paper. For a glazed appearance, go over your paper strips with decoupage glue; it will provide a clear coating on your frame.

  3. Step 3

Once you have covered your frame then you are ready to embellish it. If you are using brads or eyelets you may want to consider placing them on the scrapbook paper before you attach it to the frame. Ribbon can be tied around each side of the frame to give it an elegant appearance. Attaching paper or silk flowers is another decorative idea.

  4. Step 4

When the frame is complete then you will be ready to insert your photograph and display your crafty creation.

Tips & Warnings
  • When using wooden frames you might want to get some sand paper to roughen up the wood before you cover it with your scrapbook paper; the texture will make it easier for the paper to stick to the frame.
  • You can use die cuts, stamped images or other paper embellishments on the outside of the frame and attach them with pop dots or foam squares to give some dimension to your project.
  • Decoupage glue or other adhesives may not be acid-free so pick an adhesive that it is safe to use with photographs and scrapbooking.
