This is a brief guide on how to find an insurance company to cover Invisalign.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Telephone
  • Patience
  • Expert help from a Dentist

Step1
Invisalign Braces Make a list of Health Insurance companies, as many as you can find.
Here are a few: Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, Unicare, Anthem, and Carefirst.
Step2
Invisalign Braces Picture Narrow down the list by finding out.
1-Who services your area where you live?
2-Do they cover Orthodontics?
Once you find this out, go forward and ask "under what circumstances do they cover Invisalign or Cosmetic dental procedure". Remember this is a $5000 procedure. You need to ask "under what circumstances would insurance cover the procedure". The reason being that insurance usually will not cover the procedure if it is JUST cosmetic. In which case they may cover part of the procedure or you may need help from your dentist...........
Step3
Dentist ........A-If you have a dentist chosen you will need to also find out what insurance he/she accepts and ask if he will ASSIST YOU in getting your insurance to cover the procedure. This could be a letter verifying that the procedure is not JUST cosmetic, or a referral to an insurance company that covers the procedure.
B-If you need to find a dentist that does the Invisalign procedure, try your local yellow pages or online searches. *When calling around remember!Asking straight out about coverage and cost is not a crime. The dentists know that they are very expensive!!
C-Ask for assistance from a local Dental College(see resources at bottom of page)!
Step4
Great Teeth! After hours perhaps days of inquiry, schedule your appointment.
Enjoy the benefits of being on your way to beautiful straight teeth in a few months!

Tips & Warnings

  • Speak to YOUR dentist first or A dentist throughout this process!!
  • Call a local Dental College and ask for advice, see links under resources
  • Long hours on the phone
  • Usually Invisalign is strictly cosmetic and is difficult to get covered
