Things You'll Need:
- Non-metal spatula
-
Step 1
After letting the pan cool slightly, fill the pan halfway with tap water (enough to cover the egg).
-
Step 2
Put the pan back on the stove top and bring the water to a boil.
-
Step 3
While the water is still at a rolling boil, take the non-metalic spatula (or other non-metalic flat instrument with a handle) and carefully scrape the egg off the bottom of the pan.
-
Step 4
Even though you won't be able to see the bottom of the pan as you are cleaning, you should be able to tell where there is egg still stuck to the bottom of the pan by feeling its resistance with the spatula. Continue to scrape carefully until you can feel no more resistance across the egg-encrusted areas.
-
Step 5
Turn the stove top off and dump the hot water in the sink. If you do not have a built-in sink disposal, you will want to have a net or some kind of food catcher so the egg pieces do not go down the drain with the water.
-
Step 6
You should now have a clear pan. Wash the pan as you normally would with soap, water, and a sponge. This step should be the easiest, as your pan should be clear of egg debris.
