How to replace a bike brake cable

Millions of people own bicycles. very few
know how to maintain them i am going to teach you how to do some general mantainence replacing the brake cable.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bicycle
  • Replacement brake cable
  • teflon lubericant
  • pliers
  • wrench
  • housing
  1. Step 1

    if cable is universal cut off end that will not be needed.
    place it in the lever and clip it in install barrel adjuster.

  2. Step 2

    drop a little lube on the cable and slide on housing clip it emplace with adjuster barrel.

  3. Step 3

    attach the cable lead and the boot put cable through the nut and tighten nut.

  4. Step 4

    loosen nut hold the cable with pliers and pull it till the two sides of brake are in the right spot tighten nut.

  5. Step 5

    cut cable leave about 2 inches remaining for adjustment purposes.
    place a ferrule on cable to avoid fraying. gas it with diagonal pliers to hold in place.

Tips & Warnings
  • place lubricant on cables to make it slide easily.
  • cut the cable last to make sure you have enough cable.
  • leave about two inches so cable can be adjusted if needed.
