You may not be able to completely eliminate undereye circles, but there are steps you can take to minimize those undereye circles so they aren't so obvious.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Undereye circle can be due to lack of sleep, nasal congestion, allergies, poor hydration, and generalized ill health and lack of sleep. The first step towards minimizing the problem is to reassess your sleep schedule and daily habits. If you're sleep deprived or under a great deal of stress, these problems need to be dealt with first. If you're going all day without drinking water or have chronic nasal congestions due to allergies, these factors may also be contributing to the problems. You should attempt to address these issues first.

  2. Step 2

There are some excellent concealers on the market that can decrease the appearance of those annoying circles. Choose a yellow concealer since this tends to offset the underlying darkness of the circle. Follow this with application of a concealer several shades lighter than your natural skin tone. Use a powder that blends with your natural skin tone to cover.

  3. Step 3

There are reports that creams containing Vitamin K can help strengthen the walls of the tiny veins that peak through your skin, causing them to be less visible. You can find these creams by doing a Google search for "Vitamin K eye creams". A product was introduced to the market recently called Hylexin which is supposed to effectively treat the problem of dark undereye circles rather than just cover them up. In a study, almost 3/4 of women who had dark circles and used this product saw visible reduction in the color and severity of their dark circles. Preliminary reports look good although this product is quite expensive at almost $100 per bottle.

  4. Step 4

Another option for resistant undereye circles is the use of a bleaching agent called Hydroquinone. This agent will gradually bleach the dark circle over time, although this may take several months of repeated use. There are weak formulations of this bleaching agent available over the counter, but these are not as effective as the prescription strength agent. Check with your doctor to see if he'd be willing to give you a prescription. This agent is effective in a majority of users, although many people become discouraged by the slow results and discontinue therapy before significant improvement has taken place.

  5. Step 5

A final option for severe undereye circles when all else has failed is laser therapy. Lasers may help to spark renewed collagen production around the eye, so the veins become less visible. Again, this can be a rather expensive solution for most people.
