Broad Ripple Village in Indianapolis has long been one of the city’s coolest neighborhoods. It offers everything from vintage clothing stores and a dozen bars to some of the city’s finest restaurants and gift shops. While Broad Ripple is a nightlife hot spot, it’s also a great place to shop in the afternoon or grab a great breakfast in the morning. Here’s how to take advantage of all the Broad Ripple neighborhood has to offer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Spend a few hours exploring Broad Ripple’s many boutiques, vintage shops and gift stores. There are also several music stores, a bead shop, a bookstore, a jewelry store and a paint-your-own pottery studio. Your best bet is to start at the corner of College and Broad Ripple avenues and walk east toward Broad Ripple High School, taking time to explore the many side streets along the way.

  2. Step 2

Bring your appetite. Nowhere in Indianapolis will you find such a high density of restaurants as you’ll find in Broad Ripple. Head to Broad Ripple Brewpub for a varied pub menu, or try Bazbeaux for the best pizza in town. If you’re a foodie, sample the fries and mussels at Brugge Brasserie or visit the Corner Wine Bar or Midtown Grill. Other options include Three Sisters Café, Petite Chou by Patachou, Broad Ripple Steakhouse and more.

  3. Step 3

Head to Starbucks or its local competition down the street, Hubbard & Cravens Coffee Co., for a coffee break. Another option for a break is the neighborhood’s Egyptian hookah bar.

  4. Step 4

On warm evenings, find a spot on the terrace at La Jolla Mexican Restaurant, where the atmosphere is lively and the drinks are large. If you want to extend your evening, head to any of Broad Ripple’s many bars and clubs, such as the Vogue, Old Pro’s Table (often called “OPT”) and Landsharks. If you’d prefer to have some laughs, catch a stand-up comedy performance at Crackers Comedy Club.
