How to Be a Helpful Church Member

Do you want to get involved in your church? How do you find ways to help your church function and succeed? Follow these steps to become a helpful church member.

Things You’ll Need:

• Church Membership

1. Evaluate what you are good at. Do you like music? Do you enjoy working with children? Do you have a lot of experience with technology?
2. Ask the Pastor or Associate Pastor who you would speak to regarding the area of ministry you are interested in working in.
3. Contact that person to ask if there is any way you can help.
4. Attend all meetings. When you become involved in a particular area of ministry, be sure to attend any meetings or training. If you are a general church member, attend all business meetings.
5. Volunteer for a committee position. Do they need help planning socials? Do they need greeters?
6. Stay after special events to assist with clean-up. You might be surprised at how quickly a group of people can get a clean-up job done.
7. Volunteer to visit with church visitors and church members who are shut-in, sick, or in the hospital.
