How to Make a Beaded Window Curtain
If the view around your window bores you, add life to it by creating a simple beaded window curtain. This do-it-yourself project will give your small window a cute decoration out of nothing more than beads and nylon string. A beaded window curtain will give your window a one-of-a-kind look without costing a fortune.
Things You'll Need
- Pencil
- Ruler
- 1 ½-inch-by-1 ½-inch wooden furring strip long enough to fit outside window frame
- Drill
- Scissors
- Fishing line
- Beads in various size, shapes and colors
- 1 ½-inch wide ribbon
- Staple gun
- 2 screw-in hooks
Instructions

1
Mark points 1 inch apart on the furring strip with the pencil 1 inch from the edge. Allow enough space between the first and second holes at each end for the window frame. Drill a hole at each point.
-
2
Cut a length of fishing line twice the length of the window plus 20 inches. Thread both ends through the second hole and then through the loop formed by the double thread.
-
-
3
Pull the line tight and randomly thread on the beads.
-
4
Thread on a large pendant bead when you reach the desired length. Pass the fishing line back through the last few beads and make a knot. Thread the line back up the length of the strand, knotting ends twice more and trim the ends.
-
5
Repeat the process for each strand, making each one shorter toward the center of the window. Cut a piece of ribbon to the length of the furring strip and staple it into position on either end. Attach a screw-in hook at either end from which to hang the curtain.
