When you are setting up a new project in Adobe Premiere Pro, you should specify the correct settings for your project. Video Rendering settings affect how Adobe Premiere Pro generates video when you render a clip for previewing.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the program and go to File, and then New Project. Click on the "Custom Settings" tab at the top of the dialog box. Click on "Video Rendering" from within the options box on the left.

  2. Step 2

If you select the “Maximum Bit Depth” box, up to 32 bits will be included in the video playback sequences. If it is not selected, a lesser bit number will be used.

  3. Step 3

Note the options under "Previews," including File Format, Compressor, and Color Depth. These will specify how Adobe Premiere Pro plays your previews. Select a combination that gives the best quality previews, but keep your render time and file size down if your computer and system can't handle large preview files. For certain editing modes, these settings cannot be changed.

  4. Step 4

Employ Optimize Stills to use still images efficiently in sequences. For example, if a still image has a duration of 2 seconds or more in a project set to 30 frames, Premiere Pro creates one 2-second frame instead of 60 frames at 1/30 of a second each. Deselect this option if sequences exhibit playback problems when displaying still images.

  5. Step 5

Save and name your project settings.
