Adobe Premiere Pro lets you batch capture footage, which is an automatic capture of multiple clips from a device such as a digital video camera. You can specify which shots you want to use by logging them as a set for later capture.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the program and connect your camera or device. Go to the Capture panel. Insert a tape into your device and make sure the device is turned on.

  2. Step 2

Premiere Pro will prompt you to name the tape. Don't give each tape that you log an individual name.

  3. Step 3

Use the controls from within the Capture panel to move to the first frame in the first shot you want to capture. Click the “Set In” button. Move to the last frame of that shot and click the “Set Out” button.

  4. Step 4

In the Setup area of the Logging pane, choose your media type from the Capture pop-up menu. You can choose to capture some frames extending beyond the In and Out points of each clip by entering the number of frames in the “Handles” setting of the Capture section.

  5. Step 5

Click the "Log Clip" button in the Timecode area of the Logging pane. Name the clip when you are prompted. Premiere Pro will log the clips by placing a file for it in the Project panel.

  6. Step 6

Repeat each of the above steps to log each shot you want to batch capture. When you are finished, click on “Batch Capture” to capture all of your logged clips at once. Save your project when finished.
