The default Auto Save setting of Adobe Premiere Pro is set to save your projects every 20 minutes. It will retain the last five versions of the project file on the hard disk, so you can revert to a previously saved version at any time. You should have your program Auto Save more frequently, as you can lose a lot of work in 20 minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To change the Auto Save settings, go to Edit, and then Preferences. Choose "Auto Save."

  2. Step 2

Select “Automatically Save Projects”, and then type the number of minutes between saves.

  3. Step 3

For “Maximum Project Versions”, type in the number of versions of a project file you want to save. If you type 10, Adobe Premiere Pro will save the ten most recent versions.

  4. Step 4

Archiving many versions of a project takes up very little disk space because project files are much smaller than source video files. It’s usually best to save project files to the same drive as your application. Archived files are automatically saved to the Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save folder.
