Before you take that next sleeping pill, try a few other things first. All are easy and will help facilitate a good night's sleep. Most importantly, none are addictive.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Tea or milk
  • Elbow Grease
  • Bubble Bath Soap
  • Access to a Washer or Dryer

Step1
Wash and dry your sheets. Clean sheets that are free of bacterium that will cause allergies and skin discomfort will disrupt your ability to sleep. Do this a couple of hours before you go to bed or whenever convenient for you during the day.
Step2
Turn or flip your bed. Lumpy beds that are uncomfortable to lay in will hurt your back and decrease your ability to go to sleep. You should do this a couple of hours before you go to bed.
Step3
Take a warm bubble bath. This process will relax your body. Do it thirty minutes before you go to bed.
Step4
Drink a glass of warm milk or decaffeinated tea. It will further relax you. Do it fifteen to twenty minutes before you go to bed.
Step5
Go to bed and focus on a pleasant point in your life. It'll help you calm down enough to fall into sleep quickly.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you share your bed with another person, get them share in this process with you. You'll both sleep easy as a result.
  • Turn off any distraction in your bedroom like TV's, computers and radios.
  • Crack a window or turn down the thermostat if you typically wake up in the middle of the night sweating from being too hot.
