Pick a color that is one to two shades darker than your natural lip color. Going too light or too dark will flush your complexion, giving you a pasty look.
Step2
Do not select a shade based on the sticker or box color. These colors are not only inaccurate, but it is impossible to tell what the final result will be when applied over your own natural lip color.
Step3
As a general rule, fair skin looks best in pink and coral tones. Medium and darker skin looks best in deeper mauves and berry tones.
Step4
Nude colors that have high shine or shimmer work for everyone. If lipstick just isn't your thing, try a tinted lip gloss. Gloss complements almost anyone.
Tips & Warnings
Do not try to match your lipstick to your outfit.
Go heavy on the eye makeup OR a wear a bold lip color, but never do both.
