Learn to make a delicious free tea that can boost your immune system. Sassafras tea has long been known as a spring tonic. Dig during the winter months when the sap in the roots. Sassafras tea is used as a diuretic and stimulant.
Locate a small sassafras tree. You can identify a sassafras tree by the "root beer" type smell of the root. To dig a section of sassafras root, Take hatchet or axe and chop out about 6" of the root from the tree.

Clean off the root, wash well. Put root in large pan on stove. Boil for 5-7 minutes until the water turns red. There will be a delicious smell that reminds you of "root beer".
