If your kids spend as much time in the sandbox as mine do they are sure to have a few sand mates that they want to remember on Valentine’s Day. This makes a great class room treat bag and it is the gift that the kids can use all year round.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Individually wrapped candies
  • Plastic sand shovels
  • Treat bags
  • Twist ties or ribbon
  • White label stickers
  • Red and black markers

Step1
Start by placing a plastic sand shovel in the bottom of the treat bag. The treat bag should come halfway up the handle. If it is any longer use scissors to shorten it.
Step2
Place the individually wrapped candy inside the bag in front of the shovel.
Step3
Twist the top of the bag around the handle to gather and finish off with a decorative twist tie.
Step4
Place one of the white label stickers on the front and write, “I dig you.” You can also add a spot for the To and From if needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • This makes a great gift that is not gender specific.
  • For a classroom full of sugar, gluten, and other allergies you could substitute trinket toys.
  • If you are only doing one or two then buy the bucket with the pail and fill the bucket up covering the outside in stickers.
  • This makes a great snow castle digger.
  • Ask about allergies before you fill bags.
  • Stick to individually wrapped candies as most schools require prepackaged foods.
