Things You'll Need:
- Selvyt Polishing Cloth
- Anti-Tarnish Ziplock bag
- Connoisseurs polish
-
Step 1
Sterling silver tarnishes unless it is coated with a protective coating.
Clean your sterling silver jewelry regularly with a Selvyt Polishing Cloth that is impregnated with a tarnish remover or a Selvyt soft cleaning cloth with Connoisseurs silver polish. Always pour the tarnish remover onto the cloth first, not the other way around. Gently rub until the tarnish is removed. Remember silver is a very soft metal and you can scratch it if you aren't careful. -
Step 2
Storing your Sterling Silver
Store your bracelet in an airtight anti-tarnish zip lock bag. This will help prevent some tarnishing. Sulfur is the enemy and anti-tarnish bags absorb the sulfur from the air. Remember sterling silver is meant to be worn and your body oils also help prevent tarnishing. -
Step 3
Excessive tarnish
It is suggested that you do not use liquid jewelry cleaner on your jewelry. Liquid cleaners can remove the black (tarnish) coloring from the item and make it look quite different. To clean away excessive tarnish, clean your sterling with a Selvyt soft cotton cloth and Connoisseurs (a non-abrasive silver polish) to remove excessive tarnish. An impregnated silver cloth is the best way to remove tarnish from jewelry. Be sure the item to be cleaned is free from dust and other abrasives before storing. -
