Step1
First you should select a longtail keyword phrase in order to get on the First Page of Google. By longtail I mean a term that has 3-5 or more words in it. Check to see you the term you choose ranks BEFORE you decide to go with it. It also helps if you have access to keyword tools that allow you to see how many searches are being done for that term. Sometimes you may not care as you, ranking for other reasons. It's just important that your terms will get on the first page of Google among all competition when searched.
Step2
Next you'll want to write a couple of short articles or posts that can be used to submit to the sites we will choose later. When writing theses short articles or posts, be sure to use your keywords in places that will be benefited by their position, (e.g., first and last position of the articles, and at least once in each paragraph). Doing so will really help you in your quest to get on the first page of google.
Step3

Well it may not be the MOST important part, but it's certainly important. you have to choose where to spend your time submitting your articles. Certain obvious sites rank well on Google. One way to find them is to do a site search for each site within Google and see how many pages Google has indexed. The more pages Google has indexed of a site, the greater they are pre-disposed to index your page when you submit to that site.
