How to Waste a Day at Home

When was the last time you spent an entire 24-hour day without leaving your home (and your weren't sick)? For many, the usual day involves driving from one thing to the next, maybe spending more time in your car than you do at your home. Consider giving your car and the roads a break occasionally by spending an entire day at home. Why would you want to waste a day at home? For two reasons. First it gives you a gift of all those driving hours to do something besides sit behind the wheel of a car. Second it saves you gasoline (and money). If you aren't driving, your car isn't consuming gas. Read on to learn the finer details of wasting a day at home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Choose a day. If you drive to work, choose a day you do not work. An alternative is to arrange to work from home for a day. If you have commitments that require leaving your home, arrange them for other days. Sometimes to waste a day at home requires prioritizing what must get done on a certain day and moving your schedule around.
Step2
Make sure there is enough food in your home to get you through the 24 hours. Otherwise buy groceries and other necessities before the chosen day.
Step3
Think about what you might want to do on your day home. If this involves a home improvement project, a craft project, a cleaning project, reading a book, watching a specific DVD, or anything else you want to do while you are home, make sure you have all necessary supplies and equipment. Purchase these supplies before your day at home.
Step4
The night before your wasted day at home, turn your alarm off. An alternate, if you are planning to work from home, is to set the alarm somewhat later for as long as it takes you to drive to your place of work.
Step5
You can choose to get dressed or not to get dressed, as you will be staying home for the entire day. Why waste time on your appearance?
Step6
Now you have many hours to fill around your home. You can choose to do just about anything, or maybe you need a day to do nothing.
Step7
At the end of the day take an inventory on what you accomplished that day. Since you were home did you find you had more hours to accomplish your goals since you weren't spending time on your appearance, driving miles and miles throughout the day, sitting in a traffic jam, or standing in line at the grocery store? The answer will probably be yes.
Step8
Repeat Steps 1 to 7 at regular intervals.
