How to create a Ben 10 reward chart to promote good behaviour

How to create a Ben 10 reward chart to promote good behaviour thumbnail
Encourage hero-like behaviour by making a reward chart based on your child's favorite kid superhero!

Behavior reward charts are an essential tool for parents to use to change their child's behaviour for the better at home.

Whether your child constantly forgets to clean his room or exhibits aggression, a behaviour chart can encourage your child by rewarding them.

Instructions

    • 1

Ben 10 travels across America in his grandfather's camper, The Rustbucket. Print out a small (2" x 2") image of the Rustbucket or have your child draw it for you to get him or her interested. Glue this onto cardboard and carefully cut it out. This will be your child's marker as they move around the reward board. Punch a hole in the top of the picture and thread a 2" length through it to form a loop. Knot it.

Glue your map of North America to a piece of cardboard. If you have wallpaper paste and a wallpaper brush you can guarantee a smooth finish that will stick securely.

    • 3

Place thumbtacks on places that Ben has visited including: Washington D.C.; Philadelphia; New Orleans; Las Vegas; Mexico City; Keystone, South Dakota (Mt Rushmore); north west Wyoming (Yellowstone National Park); San Fransisco; Salem, Mass.; New Mexico; Los Angeles; Cape Canaverel, Florida. Have your child try to find the places with you so they become familiar with geography. Don't forget to place a thumbtack on your home town too as your start and finish points!

    • 4

Use yarn or thread to connect the thumbtacks in any way which you see fit. This will show the path your child has to follow to get their reward by showing good behaviour. Make your start and finish point your home thumbtack.

    • 5

Post your reward map up in your child's bedroom. Explain to your child the behaviour which you would like them to improve, such as sharing better with a sibling, tidying their bedroom or doing their homework. Introduce your child to the rustbucket playing piece and explain that that each time they do well, the rust bucket will move forward to the next town. Be clear with them what their reward will be when the rust bucket gets to its finishing point. I would suggest a small Ben 10 themed reward such as stickers, lava rocks or a small figure for particularly great behaviour.

The loop that was attached to the rustbucket in step 1 should loop easily around your series of thumbtacks. As soon as your child shows good behaviour, tell them that the rustbucket will move to the next city. Allow them to move it themselves so they are aware that only they can achieve their goals.
