Your big day is just around the corner, but you still haven't decided on someone to marry you. Sometimes this can be difficult, especially if you aren't an avid churchgoer. Not to worry, just follow these few easy steps and you'll find the perfect officiant for your wedding.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at your options. Do you attend church regularly? Maybe the minister at your church would agree to be your officiant. There's also the possibility that a friend of a friend is a minister and wouldn't mind speaking to you about the prospect.

  2. Step 2

Have a heart to heart with whomever you're considering. You want to know that they are on the same page as you. Come to an understanding about vows and other such things involved in the ceremony.

  3. Step 3

Discuss the fees. Some ministers will go pro bono, but most do require a small payment.

  4. Step 4

Ask if they require you to participate in marriage counseling. If you're prepared to do so, then there's no problem. But if you are uncomfortable with the prospect, opt for someone a bit more lenient on the subject.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you can handle marriage counseling, many states will give you a discount on your marriage license if you show a written letter from a minister indicating you participated in marriage counseling with him or her.
