Things You'll Need:
- A copy of Colin Mcrae’s DiRT for the Xbox360, PS3, or PC.
-
Step 1
Learn the courses. Don’t step on the track for keeps until you can pass the course without an accident. Even with a co-driver, there’s not substitute to feeling out where the bumps and tight turns are, and you won’t do that without a lot of practice in this game.
-
Step 2
Find your groove on different kinds of terrain. Your car will slide out more on gravel than pavement, and you’ll have to compensate for that, sometimes mid course.
-
Step 3
All of the cars handle differently, find the right car for you on the right course. Power isn’t everything, in fact it’ll probably get you in more trouble than it’s worth until you know how to handle it, so stick with what works before going for more horsepower.
-
Step 4
You’ll almost never want to gun the gas all the way down on any course. Learn how to take it easy, and find the right power band and speed to take the corners. It’s better to go slower going into the turn and come out faster than to lose speed or crash altogether.
-
Step 5
Use the physics to power out of tight turns. When you have to use the hand brake to turn hard, use the vehicle’s power to stabilize and come out of the turn ok.
-
Step 6
You don’t get penalized for playing dirty. If several cars are turning ahead of you, power into them and use them to turn, but be careful not to damage yourself too much. Not only can you use them to take the turn faster than normal, you can possibly take them out of the race.
