How to Keep Your Energy Up and Positive

Whether it's the weather, your mood or the many things left to do without enough time to do them all, there are several ways to give yourself a natural energy boost so that you can function and feel better.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Drink water. Dehydration will quickly drain your energy. People often eat when they are not really hungry because they don't realize that what they really need is water. Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Step2
Correct your posture. Pretend there is a balloon pulling your head up to the ceiling. Pull your shoulders back. Keep your back straight and pull your stomach in.
Step3
Start your day with a high fiber, high carbohydrate breakfast. If you need a snack, reach for a whole grain bagel or toast or a banana.
Step4
Take a short break. Studies show that workers who take short, more frequent breaks tend to be more productive than those who take longer, infrequent breaks.
Step5
Take a walk. If you can't get outside, try a stretching or jogging in place. Incorporate some form of brief exercise into your work day.
Step6
Meditate. You don't need to go into a pose to do this, just close your eyes and take a few very slow breaths. Think about something that makes you feel good.
Step7
Surround yourself with people who make you feel good. Negative attitudes, your own or someone else's, can bring you down. Sometimes just acting more upbeat than you really feel will lift your energy level.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't forget the obvious: Get enough sleep, eat healthy meals and exercise.
