If you've made the choice to wear a veil in your wedding, you've already taken the first step. Now the key is to find the one that compliments your gown and your overall appearance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide if you want to wear the veil as an accessory or if you really want the "veil over the face" look. This will help when choosing the length of your veil. A very short veil, less than shoulder length, may work better as an "over the face" veil.

  2. Step 2

Try to match up your veil with the rest of your look. Choose a veil that's a similar shade to your gown. Try to match the details as well, such as beading or trim.

  3. Step 3

Remember your budget. Something as seemingly simple as a veil can wind up costing much more than you think. Shop the bridal stores, then look into something a little less expensive. Searching online is always a promising option.

  4. Step 4

Try on a sample veil. Bridal stores always have several veils on display intended for this purpose. Place it in your hair and drape it in front of your face or around your shoulders and down your back. This will give you a nice idea of how it will look on the big day.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a floor length gown, just about any length will work. Wearing a knee length gown would probably work best with an elbow length or shorter veil.
  • Consider the craft stores. They sell a few options of veils at these stores. And if you're really creative, you can buy the material here and make your own veil.
