Saving Your Important Files and Data Easily
What's happening: The Backup files project lets you easily back up important files to a disc, hard drive, or other storage device. A Backup files project can be scheduled to run daily, weekly or monthly. Performing regular backups of your photos, videos, music, and documents has never been more important in our digital lifestyle and Easy Media Creator 10 makes it easier than ever!
How it's done:
1. Launch Easy Media Creator Home.
2. Click on the Data and Backup tab in the Project Pane and then select Backup files.
3. In the BackOnTrack project window, click the Browse button and use the Browse for Folder dialog box to select the drive or folder containing the files you would like to archive.
4. Select the types of files you wish to archive. Choose either All files in the selected path or Only files in the following categories.
If you selected Only files in the following categories, select the file categories you would like to archive. The choices are Email, Financial, Music, Photos, Productivity and Video and Recorded TV.
5. If desired, place a check mark in the Only archive files changed since checkbox to limit the backup to files that have been modified since the date you select.
To change the date, click the date box arrow to open the calendar. When you click a date in the calendar, the date will automatically enter into the date box.
6. Select a destination for your archived files from the Destination Selection drop-down list. The destination can be a hard drive location, a disc recorder, or another type of storage device.
7. To compress or encrypt your backup, click the Advanced button and select the appropriate settings.
8. Click the Action button to run the project now.
Tip: To schedule your project, choose one of the options in Step 3 in the Project window.Run now: The project runs after you click the Action button.
Daily: The project runs every day at the time the project was created.
Weekly: The project runs once a week at the time and on the day of the week the project was created. Monthly: The project runs once a month at the time and on the day of the month the project was created.9. To save your project, click the Save button. Enter a name for the project and click the OK button.
10. If you decided to run the project now, a progress screen will inform you when the project has been completed.
11. Click the Done button to return to complete.

Burning a Data CD using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5:
1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, point to Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, point to Applications, and then click Easy CD Creator. The Data CD Project application opens:
Note on the Data CD Project application: The top section of the application is the Source Window, which is used for selecting folders and/or files you want to burn on the CD. The bottom section of the application is the CD Project window, which shows the folders and/or files you have already selected to burn on the CD:

2. From the File menu, point to New CD Project and then select Data CD.
3. Insert a blank CD in your CD drive. To select the folders and/or files you want to put on the CD: Highlight the folder or file that you want to put on CD and click Add, which adds the folder or file to the Data CD project list. Repeat this step until all the folders and/or files you want copied are listed on the Data CD project list.Note: The Project Size bar at the bottom of the application shows you how much space you have left on the CD.
Remember: Your data will be copied to CD - not moved from its original place on your computer.
5. To deselect a folder and/or file from the CD, highlight the folders and/or files on the Data CD project list you do not want on the CD and click Remove.
Note: This does not delete the folders and/or files, it just removes them from the Data CD project list so they will not be copied.
6. After selecting all the folders and/or files you want on the CD, click Record. The Record CD Setup dialog box appears.
7. Click Options. The Record CD Setup dialog box displays more record options:
8. Make sure that the Finalize Session. Don't Finalize CD option is selected.
Note: This option allows you to continue writing to a CD-R disk until it is full and allows you to re-write a CD-RW disk without erasing the whole disk first.
9. Click Start Recording. The Record CD Progress dialog box appears showing you the remaining time left to finish burning the CD
10. Once the CD is completed, click OK.

Thank you for writing on this topic. I have Roxio Videowave and it is such a learning curve! Could you possibly tell me the exact steps in taking video from a dv camcorder to Roxio and then making a good CD that will play on any player?
