Flash's layer folders allow you to group layers in collapsible folders. Grouping layers allows you to organize your timeline, change the layer order of several layers at once, and makes working easier without having to scroll through a long list of layers.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A working installation of Flash.
Step1
To create a new layer folder, look for the Insert Layer folder icon in the menu below the Layers panel.
Step2
Click the button. A new folder should appear on a layer above your previously selected layers.
Step3
Double-click the layer's title to type in a new name for it.
Step4
To move layers to the layer folder, click and drag them over the layer folder's name or icon; release when the layer folder highlights. Once the layer is nested inside the layer folder, its name will appear indented on the layer list.
Step5
To remove a layer from a layer folder, drag it out from the layer folder list and below or above another layer outside the list.
Step6
To expand or collapse layer folders, click the small triangular icon next to the layer folder name.
Step7
Drag and drop layer folders just like layers to change their order.
