If you are familiar with the Sims 2, then you probably know about the game’s camera options. It allows you to take pictures of your Sims as they live their lives. Many creative simmers/players have used this tool to create in-depth stories/albums that read like novels. They post the stories on the Sims exchange for the world to see. Once on the exchange, other players get to rate and comment on the stories.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Writing the Story

Step1
Come up with a unique idea and plot. The basis of any good story starts with the idea and how it’s developed. A plot can make or break a story. A story with a dry plot line will get dry results, while one filled with conflict and resolution is bound to draw readers.
Step2
Create believable characters. Readers need characters they can believe in. Map out your characters. Write down your character's personality, job, background, how they look, their name, and role in the story. This will help you keep track of who is who, and you would be surprised what you discover about your characters along the way.
Step3
Show don’t tell. It’s a familiar rule for writers, and it applies to writing sim albums also. The difference between a sim album and a regular story is you have pictures to go with the words. But don’t get lazy and depend on the picture to tell the story. Your writing matters just as much, so show don’t tell.
Step4
Choose your words wisely. Bad grammar, passive sentences, overly used adverbs and adjectives can kill the best of plots.
Step5
Proofread your work. Whenever you are going to display something to the public, check and double check your work.

Taking the Pictures

Step1
Make sure pictures and words match up. Sounds simple enough but it’s a rule people sometimes forget.
Step2
Make the camera mode your friend. To enter cameraman mode hit TAB. In this mode you can use the arrow keys to move back and forth, left and right, the plus and minus keys to zoom in and out.
Step3
Be conscious of your pictures. Make sure the plumbbobs (that large green diamond over a sim’s head) conversation bubbles or other similar distractions are out of the picture. It’s the same for walls, make sure they are up, but not in the way when doing pictures.
Step4
Make photo editing software such as PhotoImpact and PhotoShop your friend. They can add that something extra to your pictures.
