How to Make a Dry Soup Mix

Canned cream soups can get expensive and contain lots of sodium. Here is a way to keep a soup mix on hand for any casserole you want to make and make it to your liking. Let's Get Started.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Container for mix
  • Cornstarch
  • Dry Bouillon
  • Dry Onion Flakes
  • Dry Thyme
  • Dry Basil
  • Black Pepper
Step1
In a large bowl, combine:
2 cups nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup dry bouillon, any flavor
Step2
Add:
5 T onion flakes
1 T dry thyme
1 T dry basil
1 T black pepper
Mix well to combine.
Step3
Store in a covered jar.
Step4
To Use, combine:
1/3 cup mix
1 cup water
Stir well and use as you would any cream soup.

Tips & Warnings

  • This will seem runny, but will thicken as it is cooked in the casserole.
  • Use any kind of seasoning you like.
