How to See a Baseball Game in Indianapolis

Indianapolis has a sporty reputation, and Victory Field, the city’s minor league baseball venue, is an important part of that culture. The field is often called the best minor league ball park in the country, and you’ll see why if you attend a game here. This is baseball as it should be: Nobody much cares who wins, but the game makes for a fun, memorable night out.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Visit the Indianapolis Indians website to see a season schedule and purchase tickets. You can also buy Indians-themed merchandise and check on upcoming special promotions. Although the Indians play some games during the day, it’s better to go in the evening. It’s cooler then, and you’ll get a nice view of the Indianapolis skyline lit up in the dark.
Step2
Drive downtown to Victory Field on the day of the game. Victory Field is located in downtown’s White River State Park, along with the zoo and several museums, so there is ample parking available. Our favorite spot to park is in the garage in front of the Eiteljorg Museum.
Step3
Enter Victory Field at the front entrance, at the corner of West and Maryland streets, or at the side entrance off of Maryland. The venue is very compact and easy to navigate, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding your seats.
Step4
Enjoy the game! For a true baseball experience, buy some peanuts or Cracker Jacks from one of the vendors. And don’t miss the seventh-inning stretch, when Indians mascot Rowdie might lead you in a sing-along of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
