Step 1

Decide which way you want to make money, offline or online.

Offline choices:
- Delivery driver
- Flower shop helper
- Seller/Creator
- Flower shop affiliate

Online choices:
- Affiliate sales
Step 2

If you're going to try to make money offline as a:

- Delivery driver: You should contact local flower shops to see if they would like to hire you, or start taking orders from people who need a delivery service during that day. Contact friends and family, or post flyers.

- Flower shop helper: Make sure you have a resume detailing your experience! Apply early, and try to to speak to the owner of the flower shop, and be persuasive. Let them know that you will be an asset to them on that day. Make sure to have all the necessary paperwork ready by that day, don't let them down, and be prepared for hard work.

- Seller/Creator: Get startup cash and buy the materials you will need early. Then make sure that you have a place that gets traffic all day long at a cheap price, preferably a small business parking lot, or a house on a busy street. Then make everything in advanced and try to arrive as early as possible to set up your workplace for the day. If possible make posters and hang them up or try to have someone holding one up. If you want to make for sure money doing this, get orders from people in advance and arrange for them to pick up or charge for delivery. Try not to hire many people to work for you that day if you want to make a profit.

- Flower shop affiliate: Make sure to write up a contract and get it signed by the flower shop owner. Make your own prices, and speak to all of the flower shops in town. Create a small order form for yourself to take orders on and make sure to gather payment for everyone whom you take an order from. Make a small catalog or have all the details of about 5 arrangements that you want to promote. Go around your neighborhood, talk to family and friends, and even go to business and schools to try and collect orders. Once you have finished, turn in your order form/s to the flower shop and collect payment.

If you're going to try to make money online doing:

- Affiliate sales: Try to post your banners on a site that gets a lot of traffic on a daily basis and that has established trust with their visitors. You should also apply early on with the affiliate partners to ensure that you qualify for their program. To ensure that you get some good quality hits/leads/sales, try writing an article and using text-links; its been proven that text-links work better than banners. If the site is offering sales for that day, talk about them a lot. You can also try sending out emails to your subscribers list. Affiliate sales really pay off during this day, especially if you work hard to get sales.

on 1/14/2009 Great ideas! I know someone who used to work part time for a florist. Every major holiday, including Valentine's Day, the florist would hire her to sell flowers across from a busy cemetery and would make a ton of sales from people who didn't think to bring flowers. I think the florist had to get a special permit, though.
