avoid jail for not paying child support

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • proof you have paid some child support or provided or has bouth stuff for your children

Step1
There are a few ways to stay out of jail when you owe child support. If you owe a lot a good lawyer is worth the money...
Step2
Never show up at court owing a lot and having no money..... This will annoy the Judge no matter what... Beg and borrow the money but show up with something...Thisshows some type of effort. The best is if you can come up with half of what you owe.
Step3
Show the court that you have a job. If you do, get a letter from your employer proving it... or a copy of a pay stub.. This shows an effort to make money now. If you go to jail you can't work and make money......

If you have bought any present for the children or clothes bring the receipts this may show you are trying...

Also come to court looking clean cut in a suit even if you have to borrow one...

on 6/30/2008 As a single dad, I found a way to handle my dead beat. Dead Beat mom in my case. I posted her at www.payyourchildsupport.com. when she pays the more than 15,000 she owes, I'll take her down. Until then, the world will know about her.

on 6/6/2008 This is not an article on how to be a dead beat just suggestions if you fall behind in arrears and are going to court for a contempt hearing. Jail is a real fact and all states are different, some strict some lean.. A real dead beat will not show up for court but will make you track him down, nor would he or SHE, women in more numbers are dead beats too, have receipts for presents, clothes, or school supplies above and beyond a support order they pay. In today's economy people are having a hard time paying bills and going to jail neither helps the custodial or non custodial parent.....If yu are in jail you will probably lose a job and the custodial parent will get nio support... Celarly jail is needed for some but every case is different...

on 6/6/2008 thank you so much for posting this information to all the dead-beat dads out there who are looking for a way to beat the system and not take care of thier children. as a single mom, i applaud your efforts! i agree with bringing in reciepts, for the groceries, toilet paper, laundry items, all those personal things the person who is not paying child support should be buying to help the person left holding the bag...are those the receipts you were referring too...
