Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- 4 oz. base oil
- 20 drops chamomile roman (athemis nobilis) essential oil
- 20 drop clary-sage (salvia sclarea) essential oil
- 15 drops geranium (pelargonium graveolens) essential oil
- 10 drops lavender (lavendula officinalis)
- 4 oz. container
Step1
Research the essential oils to make sure that you don’t have any health conditions that you shouldn’t use certain essential oils with.
Step2
Test all essential oils on the skin before use to make sure that you won’t have a reaction to the essential oil. If you do, discontinue use of that essential oil. See the Tips section below on how to do this.
Step3
Add all the essential oils and half the base oil to the container, cover and shake. Add the rest of the base oil, cover and shake again.
Step4
Rub the oil over the abdomen and lower back. You can do this 1 to 2 times a day during your period. You may also want to rub some onto your shoulders.
Step5
Take a nice warm bath in the evening with 1 to 3 tsp. of the essential oil blend added to the water. Take these essential oil baths 2 to 3 times during your period.
Step6
Use the oils before the cramps begin in subsequent months, as this will help the essential oils work better to prevent the cramps or lessen them.
