Most people assume that vegetarians are natural thin and that they must eat healthy all the time. This is not always the case. In fact, many junk foods are vegetarian and if a vegetarian eats a lot of junk food, then they can gain weight just as quickly as a meat eater. It's not difficult to lose weight once you know how to lose weight on a vegetarian diet. The principle is the same for everyone...use more calories than you consume.

Things You’ll Need:

  • food diary (online or paper)
  • a wide variety of healthy vegetarian foods

Step1
Start tracking the foods that you eat so that you know how many calories you are eating in a day.
Step2
Eliminate junk foods. These include chips, pretzels, cookies, candy, and pizza.
Step3
Include some protein with every meal. Good sources are cottage cheese, tofu, and protein powder.
Step4
Eat healthy foods and keep track of what you eat in your food diary. Make sure that you are consuming less foods than you burn.

Tips & Warnings

  • Exercising will help you to lose weight more quickly.
  • "Bad" foods can be enjoyed in moderation. Just don't make a habit of it.
