Oh, no! That cool vinyl coat has a tear in it. Do you have to throw it out or can you save it?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Duct Tape
  • Torn Coat

Repair a Tear With Duct Tape

  1. Step 1

Find duct tape that matches the coat's color. If you can't find tape in that color, choose a color that contrasts nicely.

  2. Step 2

Carefully straighten the edges of the tear.

  3. Step 3

Cut a piece of tape and place it over the tear, being sure to avoid creases or bubbles.

  4. Step 4

If you are using a contrasting tape, you may want to cut it into a decorative shape to make it look like a patch. Don't make the shape too complicated. Duct tape is a bit hard to cut into elaborate shapes, because it sticks to itself.

Tips & Warnings
  • For people who want a more elegant solution, clear wet suit cement can glue a tidy cut back together so that it is barely visible.
